THEE 999 EYES OV ENDLESS DREAM
www.999eyes.com
Lost in time, hidden in the dark corners and in the dusty shelves of old book stores, in the basements of libraries and museums, lies the fabulous, fantastical history of the carnival sideshow - a time when the malformed were glamorized as part of a traveling caravan and not locked up in institutions. A time when there was a place and venue for amazing performers to come together in a gypsy caravan style and change the atmosphere of the town around them - reminding people there is another way of life and relieving people of their daily routines - reminding them of the power of magic and imagination. The roots of radical artistic movements of today are deeply intertwined with the carnival sideshows of the past…
We acknowledge our carnival sideshow roots to empower our communities with alluring, inventive, and fearless displays of imagination and dream! Our carnival sideshow not only provides a place for roving gypsy carnival performers and “human curiosities” to express their art but also provides an environment which revives and highlights the great performers and “freaks” of the past – and their true life stories! Using olde-tyme music, puppets, story telling as well as classic carnival sideshow acts and performance we create a world that taps into profound emotion, reminding the AUDIENCE of the actualization of the living dream. At the same time, this gives the “human curiosities” of the modern age a venue to be appreciated once again - this is our mission.
Our collaborative carnival art troupe is co-created with many fabulous idividuals - musicians, sideshow artists, clowns, writers, experts - each of which works on their routines, props, banners, and costumes in their locale. Each on its own is amazing, and together, we form our carnival ov dreams. We tour selectively, displaying our “History of the FREAKSHOW” museum installation, with a real life modern day freakshow and sideshow for our openings. With all ages kid-themed shows(dream shows) as well as adult-themed “nightmare” performances, our carnival sideshow does well at what we aim to do. We’re recreating the world one carnival at a time – awakening the collective subconscious.
The psyche is never laid so bear as when entering the world ov dream… Our demons and dreamers are assembled in an ever evolving Multi-Form Cabinet containing enough skeletons to squeeze the tears and fears ov even the coldest heart… For we all have dreams, and we all have nightmares… When we enter into the waking dream of beauty and art in life, we realize how real our dreams really are. Staring at our hands, we consider all that they can accomplish, for good or ill. We present our WAKING DREAMS and NIGHTMARES for your perusal… as an actual, real, living, modern day museum ov oddities style freakshow is paraded before your awe-inspired eyes! With a musical background ranging from Old-tyme gypsy jug band to eldritch accordion “eville” puppet madness… all this and more can become available for the entertainment and horror ov THE AUDIENCE, which has the opportunity to sign on the dotted line (in blood) and sell their soul for a glimpse into another world ov phantasmagoric dream!
CORE
www.wearecore.com
Among the founding suspension performers on Earth, up from Los Angeles and Houston for a visit to Cascadia.
"It is our intent to create original and physically demanding works of theatre by blending the practice of modern performance art with ancient rituals of body suspension.
We in CoRE have suspended our own concept of physical limitation, pierced the heart of our fears, and transcended the boundaries of social convention in order to further the understanding of the corporeal and spiritual being. Suspension acts combined with traditional performance art and theatre provide us with a new outlet for artistic expression that enables the audience to join us on our emotional journey. By pushing our own boundaries in life and art, we inspire others to explore their own."
THE ALBERTA CLOWN HOUSE
www.clownhouse.org
A nationally-revered waystation for traveling clown society, led by Dingo Dizmal and Caffeine Enema Jones and featuring at one time or another every punk clown worth his or her salt.

A DICTIONARY OF BLOOD THEATER
"In a sense, there is no true, "real" theatre, only a black Cadillac crushing life and squeezing the heart out of us, one act at a time. It is appropriate then, that we cry, and mourn crushed lives, appropriate to watch as well as to perform. Why puppets? Because, by branch and root, from head to foot, there is not, nor art there be, anything so deep so sad so fun so thought-provoking so shamelessly despised so unrehearsed and prized as the beautiful blank darkness that descends upon you as the flesh is opened to let another story bleed forth.
The first installation of our new show Local man claims to have seen god but can't give an account of what he saw (Decipher that!) opens October 27 and runs throught the next two nights at the Someday lounge in Portland Oregon, moving to other venues down the west coast through October and November. This program deals with the erosion of sanity in the modern world. It is a puppetry program, including live actors and found objects, trash and treasures paraded before you eyes."

LEAPIN' LOUIE LICHTENSTEIN
www.comedytricks.com
Leapin' Louie performs a high energy comedy show featuring cowboy tricks, juggling, acrobatics, music and what-not. He inflames audiences to laughter and wild applause everywhere he plays and that’s a lot of wheres because he has appeared at corporate events, festivals, fairs, schools, etc., in twenty-one different nations.
Say it in one breath for a true feeling of jet lagged exhilaration. Leapin' Louie Lichtenstein has knocked them alive in:
USA, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Morocco, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan.
Whoa! Take a breath.

AUBREY BIRDWELL
www.somedaylounge.com/perform...irdwell/
Aubrey Birdwell is a prodigous young gypsy accordionist notorious in all corners of Portland. His work with Cicuri Curajul and Mirumir; and his solo work both with traditional and modified accordions; has distinguished him as one of the most skilled and innovative players in this city. He presents the incidental music for this evening, including a mix of traditional romany songs and his own compositions.

An Interactive art piece symbolizing the connection of all things and how what you choose affects everything. It is designed to generate life-changing breakthroughs!
Allow yourself while in the Web to work through your fear and be inspired to make new empowering choices that create more hope for your future! Those who choose to be wrapped and suspended in the Web may discover that resistance creates the persistence of fear but acceptance allows for the disappearance of fear. Shed your fixed beliefs and ways of being while inside the Web and step into a new world of increased hope and possibility!
The web will offer up personal truths, it will offer up hope and dreams, it will offer a true reflection of how what you choose (hope or fear) affects the outcome of your future in a clear representation in the present moment.
“The Web of Dreams” will be placed 1300ft from the man at 1:30. We will have 2 scheduled events on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 pm to midnight. The first, spider races, two people are attached at the torso creating one eight legged spider. They then have to work together to make it to the other side of the Web. The second event is Bumper bubbles. One of ten fans will fill your personal bubble with air and after it is sealed you will then bounce, bump and run into the other participates in their personal bubbles.
We got a late start on this idea but we know, with some help from the community, we can still pull it off (no fear only hope). We have most everything we need but if the opportunity to assist others in breaking through their fear and gaining more hope and possibility inspires you we invite you to become a part of the “Web Team” and help in anyway you can. We are looking for people to fill volunteer shifts, donate money (we still need over $1,000) or any supplies we still need please contact me on Tribe or directly:
Indeed.

In this, the penultimate evening of the Fourth Annual EnterActive Language Festival; an avenging mob of musicians, performance artists, and mechanical engineers let slip their long-suppressed nihilist urges in an explosive evening of harrowing destruction. Those of you who have pondered the deeper meaning of "EnterActive" are well-advised to attend. And to bring goggles, as there may be a bit of a mess.
FEATURING Music By:
THE RED KING, NEQUAQUAM VACUUM, and SYNCHRONICITY FREQUENCY
Performances By:
MICAH PERRY, HAIL & KISS THE GOAT, and SATI FIRE
And Engines of Destruction:
ALEX LILY'S TV SMASHER
and JONAS NASH'S BLENDER OF DEATH

The Red King is the neo-classical/black metal performance project of Johann Cleereman, also known for his participation in the highly mysterious nomadic clan Corpus Corax. The Red King combines a composer's musical precision with a deep ritual commitment to his alchemic stage process, which often leads to acts of self-mutilation and the consumption of dangerous chemicals during the course of performing his soul-bearing song cycles. My friend Scott drank a goblet of his blood once, and he couldn't stand or speak for about sixteen hours.
Nequaquam Vacuum is a free post-asiatic ensemble who usually build instruments out of scrap metal and found objects. I say "usually" because tonight they will instead be destroying scrap metal and found objects, but still musically. The Vacuum is elated to have founding member Tyler Armstrong back in the fold, having performed their last few shows with the Golden Age trio of Armstrong/McAlister/Mickens as well as members of the rotating cast who have played with the latter two since the literal disappearance of the former (it turned out he was in Turkey). Tonight's guests include Nolon Ashley, Rale Sidebottom, and multi-instrumentalist "Infamous Dangerous Psychopath".
Synchronicity Frequency is the industrial solo effort of Ryan Olsen, who this evening will be creatively DJ-ing the heaviest of metal.
CLICHE AU LAIT (PDX) is a performance Art group operated by JO CASE AND Micah Perry. Since its inception in 2000. One of their intentions is to allow viewers a transcendent experience with art not signified by static objects alone. CLICHE AU LAIT offers opportunities to intervene, predict, or participate. The resulting cooperative creation process affords participants entrance into the actual realm of the art, RATHER THAN OBSERVING SOMEONE ELSES EXPERIENCE OF ART.
Hail and Kiss the Goat present: War Pigs, excerpts from an unfinished musical.
Hail and Kiss the Goat is at the cross roads of Butoh, German industrial improv, Heavy Metal and political satire.
Short and sweet, this performance version of War Pigs is as poignant as the day Black Sabbath penned it.
Sati Fire are a ritual dance troupe headed by Tamara Yeskel and Zenia Brar, who have performed together since 2002 as part of the Pan-Zen Konspiracy Nettwyrk.
Alex Lily's TV Smasher is a large and dangerous machine designed to destroy television sets.
Jonas Nash's Blender of Death is an immense and even-more-dangerous machine built from lawnmower blades and a Volkswagen engine, dedicated to the destruction of works of art.
Ka-Boom, y'all.
VOTING REGISTRATION DEADLINE LOOMS

A quick reminder. Register by midnight TONIGHT (May 31st,
2005) to
participate in BORG2's upcoming art grant elections. If you're
getting
this note in your email, and the sending address is
<frankenspock at
yepmail.net>, you're ALREADY REGISTERED. No further action
is
necessary, and you will be sent further instructions when it
comes time
to actually vote (June 2-4).

If you're reading this some other way -- on a website, post in
tribe.net, excerpted in someone else's email -- you need to
register by
midnight tonight in order to participate.

To sign up for the mailing list, follow these easy steps

- Sign up here: http://saucer.spaceship.com/mailman/listinfo/bep

- You will receive a confirmation email at the address you used
to
subscribe to the mailing list

- Click on the link in the message. Follow the insructions on the
page
to confirm your subscription

Only after confirming your subscription will you be in the BORG2
mailing list. Once you start receiving the Bullhorn, you are done.

And now, a FAQ-in-miniature from the loquacious Kiko Amound:

-Why do I need to sign up for the mailing list in order to vote?

Two reasons, the most important of which is that we believe in
informed
voters; informed voters get (and hopefully read) the Bullhorn and
know
what's going on instead of just parachuting into the election and
voting for whoever their friend/lover/neighbor/dealer/pet told them
to
vote for. The second reason is that we use the list for
authenticating
voters.

-I joined the list but never received the list confirmation e-mail.
What do I do?

Check the e-mail you used for signing up for the mailing list.
Make
sure it is not being forwarded somewhere else. Also, check your
spam
folder, the confirmation e-mail could be there.

-I receive the Bullhorn but don't get any e-mail. How come?

Do you receive the Bullhorn through Tribe or E-mail? You need to
be in
the E-MAIL LIST, not Tribe. Also, check your spam folder for
messages
from "Frankenstein Jones" containing the title "BORG2 Bullhorn"

Any further questions, please direct them to the email address
below.

-------------------------

button and
TALK LOUDLY: Frankenstein Jones at
(b2bullhorn@fastmail.fm).

Got an event coming up or an announcement to make? Send
them in. We
can't guarantee everything submitted will appear in an issue of
the
b2b, however we will make every effort to accommodate your
sincere
desire to yell at the general public. PLEASE SEND ME
INFORMATION. I
can't do this without the people who read the thing.

You can also sign up for the tribe.net thingy at
http://BORG2.tribe.net, where we talk about all sorts of stuff
related
to BORG2. This is probably the quickest way to receive
information and
inform others on topics related to BORG2.

"Please get me off this list as quickly as possible."

Ejection seat button:
http://saucer.spaceship.com/mailman/listinfo/bep

Go down the page until you see the part that begins with "To
unsubscribe". Enter your email address and that should
effectively get
you out of the loop. You will no longer be eligible to take part in
future BORG2 votes after you take this step, although you are
welcome

Plz understand that, while cleverly worded and wickedly wacky humor will be appreciated, anything of a risqué or blatantly sexual nature will have to be somewhat censored as children might see these signs too.
I would also like to gift it to anyone smelling as bad as I do. I haven't found anyone to give it to yet, but I'm hoping Burning Man will give me an opportunity to spread my love.

So what do you think? Can I get funding too?

Yo. Brothers and sisters. Can't we all just get along? OK, well, maybe not . . .

Words have gone to and fro, between he and she, about this and that. But things still seem as messy and muddled as when we all first stepped onto this big dusty stage.

With this in mind, the borg4 thinks it's high time to grab the mic and announce:

THE BORGVERSE PEACE SYMBOL SMACKDOWN

Here's the gig . . .

Borg2, borg3 and borg4 (the artists, spectators and ravers respectively) clearly have some issues to work out. We people of PLUR aren't much for conflict, but given the current impasse, we think it has sadly become time for a direct physical fight. Well, not really a beat the crap out of each other fleshy sort of fight. More like a thoughtful physical confrontation- maybe even a nice snuggly one at that.

What? Yea, I know. Ok, check this.

The borg4 proposes a co-produced conflagration and fundraiser held in a large space, with a GIGANTIC PEACE SYMBOL painted on the floor, dividing the place and energy space into thirds. Each camp sets up there wares and woes in their third of the pie, and does their thing in rotation throughout the evening, at 30 minute intervals.

We start at 10:00PM with borg2 providing 30 minutes of snotty artistic excess, of whatever form and volume they can still manage. Then 30 minutes of intense and focused drunken spectating by borg3. Then 30 minutes of wicked and wrighteous raving by borg4. Round and round the peace symbol it goes. Where it stops, nobody knows.

But stop it will. And where it stops is at 1am, after 30 minutes of simultaneous, Arting, Spectating and Raving by all three borgs. Whoever has attracted the most people to physically occupy their third of the pie by 1AM wins the big kahuna. Whomever ends up with the least in their pie slice at 1AM is banned from the Porta-Johns at the event this year. And whomever finds themselves in second will be heckled shamelessly and assilimated by the UBERBORG.

But the masses might be open to manipulation and bribing you say? Musical borgs might not accurately reckon who, in fact, should be declared uber?

Well yes, peeps have suggested you might in fact be right. Borg4 is not really too sure about this whole voting thing. Maybe a more direct physical reckoning is in order. I believe all of us peaceniks here are above a direct physical fight, but we certainly are not above--- THE THUMBDERDOME.

Yes, the thumb wrestling version of the larger version. A mere 20 inches high, instead of 20 feet. We'll put it right at the center of the peace symbol, at the intersection of the 3 lines. Combatants from each borg can vie at thumbs in THE THUMBDERDOME all night, with a running tally of the outcome kept by inscrutable talliers of score. Claiming the title of UBERBORG will require a stacked victory in both pie slice population density as well as accumulated thumb wrestling tally at 1am. Yhou dig? Word . . .

More than a mere competition of borgs, THE BORGVERSE PEACE SYMBOL SMACKDOWN is also a fundraiser benefiting two borgs which are as of yet undetermined. We propose to split the gifts from the door and elsewhere 3 ways- 2 shares go to the borg declared UBER at 1am. 1 share to the runner up borg. And 0 shares to the vanquished borg. High risk and high reward are at hand for those who decide to play.

So borg2 and borg3, are you ready to enter the PEACE SYMBOL with borg4 for . . .

. . . THE BORGVERSE SMACKDOWN!!!!!???
We are here to say thank you. And to encourage you to make more fabulous dance party decorations. We like 'em. and we want more. In fact, we demand more. If we don't get more, we are going to stop coming to the event to dance and go dance somewhere else."
January 20, 2005 - 11:01 AM new
From MM Larry speaks -18 Jan 2005

Greetings from San Francisco,

I guess I should point out to everyone that the Borg2 affair is
essentially a San Francisco phenomenon. If one were to subtract all
of the duplicated and triplicated entries and the emails that were
actually intended as protests of the original manifesto, all of
which appeared on the initial manifesto comment list (it allowed
very limited space for expression of opinion), the serious
participation in this project would probably reduce down by nearly
half, though this, too, is something of an understatement, since
many other folks weighed in with comments such as "Boo Yeah!" or
"Down with The MAN!". Conflict, or even the appearance of it is a
great attractor, especially on the Internet. A subsequent ad in a
local alt weekly listed all 1,000 of these entries as "votes". Even
a member of our LLC was listed as a supporter. All of this is
somewhat disingenuous. What I am gently suggesting here is that a
lot of smoke and many mirrors were at play in the creation of this
spectacle.

I wrote a reasoned reply to the original petition, and this resulted
in The Bet. All of this is in line with a long San Francisco
tradition of public farce and practical jokes, though I do believe
that some of the people now involved are in earnest and really do
want to contribute art to the event. This group is concluding
Internet-based elections for their Art Council tonight, and I've no
doubt a lot fun will be had at the Odeon Bar. I suppose I should
also point out that the invitation to our larger community to
participate in this election (which the JRS published under the
terms of this picturesque wager) was intentionally sent out (at
their request) the day AFTER voter registration ended.

We do intend to help the new organizers in any way we can. If they
persevere, they'll face stupendous challenges. We mean to keep
peace in our family, and we will encourage any kind of constructive
action. Who knows? Maybe, when all of this is over, Borg2 might
want to form a San Francisco regional, since none presently exists.
Some of these folks have lived in our shadow too long, and that's
probably half of the problem. But I would caution all of you about
publicizing this effort as if it were the "people's movement" it
might seem to be.

As of this writing, contributions to the Borg2 art fund are not
accounted for and are being held privately. I don't mean to suggest
that there is any fraud involved. If anything, the the primary
instigators of this drama have probably spent considerably more of
their own money than has been received in donations, and we've no
reason to suspect them of unethical designs. However, once an actual
council is constituted, our first question will concern fiduciary
responsibility. If the JRS is to continue to uphold our part in this
wager and publish announcements concerning future activities,
they'll need to invent some form of open and reliable accounting.
At this point, I would be very cautious about publishing anything on
your lists. It wouldn't be fair to artist groups who need support in
your home regions. I would suggest that you invest your effort in
helping these local artists to raise funds. In the meantime, we
will attempt to determine if anything serious will come of this. I
hope this helps to put things in perspective.

Has BORG 3 developed a formal position with respect to the ever-timely issue of playa pissing? This becomes all the more salient this year as BORG 3 attendees will no doubt flood the playa with beer, and then conceivably flood the playa again with their streams of playa piss? Perhaps we should designate certain playa piss free fire zones in convenient areas, marked off by duct-tape, or channels. Andy Goldsworthy, in fact, could be commissioned to create the sand channels with which to shape the flow and collection of playa piss. This issue should really be taken up at the next meeting.

And if we buy BORG 3 tickets or donate to BORG 3, do we get to enter BORG 2 territory to watch a bunch of drunk white hillbillies play with their flamethrowers . . . ooops, I mean . . . watch real artists reclaim the playa for the new proletarian man?
